چکیده
Background: Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) are utilized in total joint arthroplasty (TJA) to objectively evaluate patient function and track progress over time. Limited data exists on temporal trends of preoperative PROMs any specific effect COVID-19 functional status. The objective this study was identify changes time, determine the influence prior TJA.
Methods: All patients undergoing unilateral primary hip (THA) or knee (TKA) by a single surgeon from 2013-2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Joint-specific relevant covariates compiled evaluated. Time series, univariate, multivariate analyses performed predictors PROMs.
Results: After exclusions, 1,105 THAs 1,909 TKAs available for analysis. Preoperative activity level steadily increased 2015 2021 THA patients. For TKA patients, similarly 2019, however, decrease occurred 2020. No time series differences observed HOOS JR Knee Society “knee normal” scores. KOOS scores 2016 then decreased 2020 2021. pain with walking stair climbing 2013-2019 an increase both era (cases onward) significant predictor higher UCLA (p=0.020); worse walking, analysis (p≤0.038).
Conclusion: This demonstrated detrimental effects status, particularly Providers should consider surgical delays how changing These include rising levels TJA overall worsening during COVID era.

Preoperative planning for primary total hip arthroplasty.
Preoperative planning is of paramount importance in obtaining reproducible results in modern hip arthroplasty. Planning helps the surgeon visualize the operation after careful review of the clinical and radiographic findings. A standardized radiograph with a known magnification should be used for templating. The cup template should be placed relative to the ilioischial line, the teardrop, and t...
متن کاملTemporal trends in prevention of venous thromboembolism following primary total hip or knee arthroplasty 1996-2001: findings from the Hip and Knee Registry.
BACKGROUND The Hip and Knee Registry is an observational database comprising data on practices of US orthopedic surgeons during 1996 to 2001. We examined trends in the use of prophylaxis for venous thromboembolism (VTE) among patients who underwent primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA). METHODS Data on 9,327 THA and 13,846 TKA patients were submitted between 19...

OBJECTIVE the objective of this study was to present an analog method for preoperative planning of primary total hip arthroplasty procedures based on measuring the components by overlaying the transparencies of the prosthesis on the preoperative radiographs and checking the accuracy, both for predicting the size of the acetabular and femoral components used and for restoring the offset and corr...

Among 25 patients of mean age 91.5 years (range, 90-96 years) who received a total hip or knee arthroplasty at the authors' institution, 8% experienced surgical complications, 56% experienced at least 1 medical complication, and 80% received perioperative blood transfusions. At a mean follow-up of 4.1 years, patients were experiencing pain reduction and somewhat higher functional capacity and h...
متن کاملPreoperative aspiration culture for preoperative diagnosis of infection in total hip or knee arthroplasty.
This meta-analysis evaluated preoperative aspiration culture for diagnosing prosthetic joint infection (PJI) in total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.72 (95% confidence interval, 0.65 to 0.78) and 0.95 (0.93 to 0.97), respectively. Subgroup analyses revealed nonsignificant worse diagnostic performance for THA than for TKA (...
